PAI, Sionic Mobile partner on ATM-based iBeacon rewards program
Sionic Mobile, a cloud-based mobile commerce company, and Payment Alliance International, a provider of electronic payment processing solutions, have formed a partnership that will allow advertisers to connect with mobile app users via iBeacon technology at ATMs. This first-of-its-kind program will be implemented at 74,000 PAI-networked ATMs across the U.S., according to a press release.
How it works
Consumers earn instant rewards when they use their Sionic mobile rewards app to pay for purchases from any merchant in the Sionic Mobile Rewards Marketplace of more than 100,000 retailers, restaurants and hoteliers across the U.S.
These rewards can be spent like cash on future purchases or redeemed for cash. When the mobile app user enters the proximity of an enabled ATM, the beacon sends a greeting, proximity-based mobile ads and offers, and an invitation to cash out rewards.
To cash out, the user simply walks to the ATM, opts for a cardless transaction, then taps the “mobile rewards app” button on the machine. The app generates a single-use, three-digit code that is entered on the ATM keypad to complete the cash transaction.
The Sionic Mobile cloud-based ION commerce engine uses advanced security and fraud prevention tools that protect both the consumer and the ATM owner, the release said.
“We are excited to launch this compelling new customer engagement tool and pleased to have this powerful new partnership with Sionic Mobile,” said John J. Leehy III, president and CEO of Payment Alliance International. “We believe the PAI beacon network will enhance the customer experience while driving new and valuable traffic to our machines and retail clients.”
“Our goal is to provide Mobile Rewards App users, including millions of our partners’ app users, tangible ways to use their earned rewards how they want, when they want, and wherever they want,” said Ronald Herman, founder and CEO of Sionic Mobile. “PAI gives us a remarkable opportunity through their vast nationwide ATM network and advanced technology to give advertisers a way to reach millions of consumers, and mobile rewards app users a whole new way to view the value of their earned rewards.”
