House Floor Activity
House Majority Leader Hoyer made the following announcement regarding the House calendar.
Members are further advised that as conversations surrounding additional coronavirus relief legislation continue, it is possible that the House will meet during the month of October.
Members will be given at least 24-hours’ notice before the House will be called back to session.
The next meeting of the House in pro forma session is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on October 27, 2020.
House Committee Activity
The House has not noticed any committee activity for the week of October 26, 2020.
Senate Floor Activity
The Senate stood in recess until noon on Saturday, October 24, 2020.
When the Senate reconvened, it resumed consideration of Executive Calendar #890, Amy Coney Barrett, of Indiana, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
During Friday’s session of the Senate, Senator McConnell filed cloture on the Barrett nomination. Under the provisions of Rule XXII, the cloture vote on the Barrett nomination would occur one hour after the Senate convened on Sunday.
Procedural votes are expected to occur before and after the cloture vote. Senators should plan to be on the Senate floor beginning at approximately Noon on Sunday for the next roll call vote. As a reminder, Senators are not permitted to enter the floor during the prayer and pledge, which will occur at noon. Senators should plan to arrive immediately before or after.
After the Senate votes to invoke cloture today further consideration of the nomination is limited to 30 additional hours.
The final vote on confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett, of Indiana, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States is expected in the late afternoon or early evening on Monday, October 26, 2020.
