Bills Considered Pursuant to a Rule

 

Senate Amendment to H.R. 1319 – American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (Rep. Yarmuth – Budget) – This measure advanced on Saturday in the Senate after a lengthy amendment process and debate. It constitutes the next reconciliation COVID-19 pandemic relief bill making various changes to emergency programs and funding $1.9 trillion in recovery efforts.

H.R. 842 – Protecting the Right to Organize Act of 2021 (Rep. Scott (VA) – Education and Labor) – Commonly referred to as the PRO Act this measure would make various changes to law related to the National Labor Relations Act, organized labor, and impact facets of the gig economy.

H.R. 8 – Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021 (Rep. Thompson (CA) – Judiciary) – Legislation would make changes to law associated with the “gun-show loophole.” H.R. 8 passed during the 116th Congress by a vote of 240-190 with eight Republicans supporting and two Democratic Members voting against.

H.R. 1446 – Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2021 (Rep. Clyburn – Judiciary) – Legislation would make changes to law pertaining to the length of time a purchaser could be required to wait for the result of a background check in an effort to close the “Charleston loophole.”
